The listing price is $6.27 USD against a $6.74 original, the item is in stock, and the SKU is 7720521196. We ordered the run through the Kakobuy agent, photographed the parcel on arrival, and put every size on the bench before anyone put a pair on.
What the bench did before the fitting
Every pair was measured flat, twice, on separate days, with the tape in frame for the photograph. I do not accept a single read: the second pass is where operator error shows up. On eight of the nine sizes the two passes agreed within 0.3 cm on waist, rise, outseam and leg opening. The 4XL waist read 0.5 cm apart, which we flagged in the bench sheet rather than averaging away.
The listing states a 1–2 cm measurement tolerance, and that number matters more than usual here. A 2 cm band at the waist is roughly half a size step at the small end of this chart, so a buyer ordering by label alone can land between two sizes without either being wrong.

All figures are our tape, not the seller's copy. Because the waist is elastic-free and the drawstring is the only adjustment, the flat waist is the whole story: there is no give to absorb a round-up or a round-down.
The five-person panel, reported as a range
Fit checks here run on five colleagues rather than one opinion, and I record the spread. Our panel spans 163 cm to 185 cm in height and 71 cm to 96 cm at the natural waist. On this short, S closed comfortably on the 71–74 cm waists and stopped being wearable above roughly 76 cm. 5XL sat loose on 96 cm and would take a 102–104 cm waist before the drawstring did any work. The middle sizes behaved predictably in 2 cm steps — the problem was never the chart, it was the width of the stated tolerance sitting on top of it.
The straight hem is where the panel agreed fastest. Five different body types, one hem line, and no one reported the leg opening riding up or catching at the thigh, which is the usual failure of a thin, non-stretch short cut this wide.
Print, seams and the fabric under a 5500K light box
The 3D print is printed, not appliquéd, and it carries over the side seam without a break in registration on the pairs we opened. Under the light box the reverse of the fabric shows a faint ghost of the pattern — expected on a thin polyester, and the practical consequence is that these read as slightly translucent in strong sun on the lighter colorways, white in particular.
Seam work is better than the price suggests. We counted stitch density at the hem and the crotch bar-tack on two pairs per size band and found no skipped stitches. The 5 kg pull test on the drawstring channel, run on a spare pair, deformed the eyelet slightly but did not tear the channel or pull the cord end through.
How it behaves wet, and what that means for sizing
Thin polyester with no stretch dries fast — our samples were dry in well under an hour on a line in a 22 °C room — but the same property means the fabric clings when wet and offers no recovery at the waist. If you are between sizes, take the larger one and use the drawstring; sizing down will not stretch into comfort.
The listing's tolerance is wider than the gap between two adjacent sizes at the small end. That is the single most important fact on the page.

Brand-level material is a caution, not a verdict: reviews of the Ralph Lauren online store on Trustpilot skew heavily negative (1.6 out of 5 from 131 reviews) and repeatedly cite cheap fabrics and incorrect sizing, while a Reddit replica review found the material and logo detailing close to retail. Neither describes this shorts listing, and we have not treated either as proof about it. The sizing guidance that Ralph Lauren runs multiple fit profiles — Classic-Fit about a size larger, Custom-Fit closer to Asian sizing — is genuinely useful, but only if you can confirm which profile this listing follows. We could not, so we sized from the tape instead.
