Expertise: Evidence standards for agent-purchased goods, bench measurement protocol, editorial corrections governance

    Margot Ellery

Margot Ellery founded the Kakobuy Methods Book in Portland in 2021. She spent nine years as a quality assurance lead for a Pacific Northwest outdoor equipment importer, running incoming inspection on textiles and footwear before moving into editorial work. She writes the standards pages, signs off every published score, and keeps the correction log. She still takes a bench shift most Fridays, usually on footwear and outerwear.

Margot insists that every published number be traceable to a sealed parcel photographed on a dated bench sheet. Her rule for the desk is simple: if the evidence file cannot answer the question, the question goes back to the bench rather than into the copy. She reviews each score twice, once against the measurements and once against the wording.

Expertise: Hands-on bench sheets, footwear and garment fit checks, comparison table construction

    Daniel Kwon

Daniel Kwon runs the bench. Before joining the book in 2022 he spent five years in retail footwear fitting and two years as a returns inspector, which is where he learned how often a listed size and a measured size disagree. He writes most of the hands-on reports, builds the comparison tables by hand, and photographs every parcel before it is opened. He is based in Portland and cycles through the retest queue each quarter.

Daniel measures every item flat, twice, and photographs the tape in frame. He runs fit checks on a five-person panel of colleagues and records the panel range rather than a single verdict. Comparison tables are built only from bench sheets, never from listing copy, and any figure he cannot trace is struck from the table before publication.

Expertise: Agent timing studies, documentation accuracy audits, listing change monitoring

    Priya Raghavan

Priya Raghavan owns the evidence file. She spent six years as a market research analyst tracking fulfilment intervals for e-commerce clients before joining the book in 2022. She built the four-interval agent timing table that appears in every report, runs the listing change monitor that triggers early retests, and audits stated-versus-observed composition claims. She works from Portland and writes the methods pages with Margot.

Priya timestamps every order event from placement to dispatch and reports medians with the full range rather than an average. She re-reads each listing at publication and again at 90 days, flagging material edits for early retest. When a claim cannot be verified by bench evidence, she records it as unverified in the evidence file and keeps it out of the score.
