What this book is
The Kakobuy Methods Book is a working record of how we evaluate products ordered through the Kakobuy shopping agent. It is part methods manual, part evidence log. For each featured item we publish the order date, the parcel weight, the measured dimensions, the composition check, the agent's response timing during the order, and a score on a five-point scale.
We started in 2021 in Portland, Oregon, after a year of informal bench notes that kept contradicting the listings we were reading. The fix was procedural rather than rhetorical: stop describing products and start documenting them. Order as an ordinary customer, photograph the parcel before opening, measure on the bench, cross-check the documentation, then score. Every article in the book is built from that sheet.
How the desk works
Three editors run the book. Margot Ellery founded it and sets the standard. Daniel Kwon runs reviews and owns the bench sheets. Priya Raghavan runs research and owns the evidence file, including agent timing and documentation accuracy. We buy at retail through the same public agent interface our readers use, and we pay for the items ourselves.
Our testing SOP has five fixed stages: order logging, parcel intake, bench measurement, documentation cross-check, and scoring. A product cannot be scored until all five stages are complete and the evidence file holds the intake photographs, the bench sheet, and the agent correspondence. Comparison tables are built by hand from those files, never from listing copy.
What we do not do
We do not accept free products from sellers, we do not publish sponsored scores, and we do not run affiliate links inside the body of a test report. We do use affiliate links on shopping pages, disclosed in full on the affiliate disclosure page. We are a small publisher with a real desk, not a rating agency, and we say so plainly.
